Jordan Riley, the 6-foot-4, 187-pound combo guard from Brentwood (N.Y.) High School and the NY Lightning AAU program, has picked up several high-major offers while doing Zoom calls with a few top suitors recently.

Riley has added offers from DePaul, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Kansas State and Pittsburgh in recent weeks to go with previous offers from Seton Hall, Hofstra, Virginia Tech, St. John’s, Rutgers and Stony Brook. Rutgers was the first school to offer when head coach Steve Pikiell came to Brentwood to offer in person.

He’s recently had Zoom calls with Miami, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and St. John’s and will them soon with Georgetown (Saturday) and Kansas (the following weekend).

Meantime, Kansas coach Bill Self spoke for about 40 minutes with Jordan’s father, Monty, on Wednesday.

“Self talked about Jordan’s toughness and how he will lock you down on defense and take it to you offensively,” Monty Riley said. “He says he’s fearless!”

He added: “It started with [assistant coach] Norm Roberts coming to see him in a playoff game in which he suffered a severe cut on his eyebrow that required 10 stitches. Jordan kept coming in and out of the game to stop the bleeding but he had to play in order for his team to win. Norm was impressed with his toughness.”

Jordan Riley broke down the pitches of several of his other top suitors.

Rutgers: “They were just checking up on me, seeing how I’m doing. I think it’s like a nice spot over there, too. I’ve been to one or two games. But I like the crowd. I didn’t go there at the time when everybody was there. I went there right there after the Christmas break. But even when they didn’t have that whole crowd, it was still packed. The energy was crazy there.”

St. John’s: “They say style of play, how I play on the court, is fast-paced, go and get it. They basically said that we’re recruiting you heavily.”

Georgetown: “Basically the same thing. We’re looking for players that can play and go at it.”

Pittsburgh: “Same thing. They like New York players because of how tough we are. And they say that’s what they basically see in me.”

Miami: “They haven’t offered yet but they said they want to see me. They only saw tapes of me. Once they see me in person, they’re going to build a relationship with me. They basically say if you come to Miami, you’re going to develop very good.”

Kansas State: “I like them, too.”

Kansas: “They’re going to see me play a couple more times. I talk to [assistant coach] Norm [Roberts].”

Riley has no plans to cut his list anytime soon. He remains loyal to Brentwood and says when he’s playing well, “I play great defense. I get everybody involved. I just have fun.”
