Millennium (AZ) High School junior DaRon Holmes has transferred to Montverde Academy (FL), he announced via Twitter Thursday.
Finally, it’s with the purpose of taking my growth to a new level of competition and development that my family and I are taking this important next step.
Holmes, the 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward, is ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 12 power forward and No. 42 overall player in the Class of 2021.
He will join forces with 6-foot-9 forward Jalen Duren and 6-foot-6 shooting guard Dariq Whitehead.
Holmes averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game for Millennium (AZ) last season.
He currently holds offers from schools such as Virginia, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, Arkansas, Wake Forest, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech and Ole Miss, among others.
Montverde head coach Kevin Boyle has coached six top-3 NBA Draft picks since 2011 — two No. 1s in Ben Simmons (76ers) and Kyrie Irving (Nets), two No. 2s in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Hornets) and D’Angelo Russell (Timberwolves) and two No. 3’s in R.J. Barrett (Knicks) and Joel Embiid (76ers).
Cade Cunningham, a senior at Montverde signed with Oklahoma State is the projected No. 1 pick in 2021 per ESPN.com.
