Bobby Pettiford, the 6-foot-1 point guard from Creedmoor, (N.C.) South Granville, committed to Louisville on Wednesday.
Ranked the No. 26 point guard in the 247Sports.com composite rankings, he also considered Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Providence.
“I’m going to Louisville and I’m from North Carolina and I wanted to play in the ACC,” Pettiford told 247Sports.com. “I think it’s the best place for me to go and be able to be a pro. I actually have a lot of my family stays there. That’s a plus. I’ll also be home to play games in front of my family here.”
“They have an open backcourt and coach [Chris] Mack made it known he wanted me bad. They have a great fan base. I love the fan base there, and they have a NBA arena.”
Pettiford averaged 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds this season, but was unable to visit Louisville due to the pandemic. He told 247Sports he talked his friend Josh Hall, the former N.C. State who had visited the school.
He joins power forward Bryce Hopkins in coach Chris Mack’s 2021 class.
“I think I’ll have a lot of defense and I can bring defensive intensity,” he said. “I have all the tools to be a great defender, I’ll be a defensive leader. I’m going to work hard and I’m a true point guard. All my guys are going to eat with me.”
