Class of 2021 power forward David Joplin has committed to Texas.
Joplin, the 6-foot-7, 215-pound power forward from Brookfield Central (WI), announced his commitment on Sunday, via Twitter.
He broke down the deciding factors for ZAGSBLOG Sunday:
“Definitely the love for the staff and the confidence they have in me,” Joplin said by text. “They really believe that I can be special and contribute to UT’s success.”
He chose the Longhorns over Georgetown, Iowa State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, and Butler, among others.
“I think I fit very well because I can do anything needed on offense,” Joplin said. “[I can] handle the ball, shoot it from wherever and guard the 1-4 positions.”
Joplin joins combo guard Emarion Ellis and power forward Keeyan Itejere in the Longhorns’ 2021 class.
“I’m about to hit them up soon so we can recruit other guys to join the squad,” he said.
According to 247Sports.com, Joplin is ranked as the No. 30 power forward and No. 147 overall player in the Class of 2021.
“I’ll never give up and I’ll give it my all for sure,” Joplin said. “They don’t know what’s coming!”
