Josiah Harris, the 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward from Richmond Heights (OH), has started to gain the attention of colleges nationwide.
Ranked as the No. 40 power forward in the Class of 2022 by 247Sports.com, Harris says he’s in daily contact with Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Penn State, Texas A&M, Illinois, Cincinnati, Purdue and Georgetown.
“Right now I’m just looking for what’s a good fit. I’m watching a lot of film on the colleges, talking to the coaches, building good relationships and everything,” he said. “They all told me they want me to come on campus so I’m looking to visit all of those schools.”
Harris has already taken unofficial visits to Ohio State, Georgetown, West Virginia, Maryland and Purdue.
He broke down each school:
Ohio State: ” I love the atmosphere there. I loved it. I was up close. I saw the game. They were playing against Wisconsin. I loved the atmosphere and how the players interacted with each other. It was a good experience.”
Georgetown: “I was at their Midnight Madness. It was fun seeing all their fans and how they support the teams. It was fun seeing how they all came out and how they cheered Patrick Ewing when he came out. They called his name. It was a fun atmosphere to be around.”
West Virginia: “That was a good one. It was another game. They played against Missouri. It was a high-intensity game. The atmosphere was amazing, as well. That was a good visit.”
Maryland: “That was a practice. I saw how they were. I got to see their atmosphere, intensity, leadership and how hard they worked. It was really a good thing to see.”
Purdue: “That was a good one because I went there for the team camp and the coach showed us around campus. We saw how it looked and it was very beautiful.”
In terms of a commitment, Harris says it’s ‘really up in the air right now’.
“I’m just praying about it, talking to my family each day and building relationships with coaches,” he said. “I’m just seeing how this goes.”
According to 247Sports.com Composite Rankings, Harris is ranked as the No. 156 player nationally and the No. 6 player from the state of Ohio.
“I’m very long,” he said. “I can guard the one through four positions on defense. I can play really any position on floor. I can shoot from anywhere on the floor.”
