Cade Cunningham‘s college career likely came to an end as No. 4-seed Oklahoma State fell to No. 12-seed Oregon State 80-70 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday night.
“I’m gonna miss it for sure,” Cunningham told reporters after Sunday’s loss. “This is a special group of guys. I feel bad for saying it. It’s just everything. I feel like we had something special going on.”
Cunningham said this season has been ‘special’.
“I think that’s the best way to describe it,” Cunningham said. “I think the biggest thing is I’ve surrounded myself around great people.
“More than anything that’s the thing I’m most proud of and that’s the thing I feel like I’ve grown the most by just being around good people that push me to be somebody good on the court and off the court.
Cunningham is considered the favorite to go No. 1 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. He is ranked as the No. 1 best available prospect, according to ESPN.
Cunningham said he doesn’t know if Sunday was his last game with Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound guard out of Arlington, Texas, was named 2021 Big 12 Player of the Year and averaged 20.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 44.5 percent shooting as a freshman.
