Two years after its run to the NCAA championship game, Texas Tech has lost its coach and now appears to be losing several players, too.

After coach Chris Beard left for rival Texas on Thursday, several players followed him out the door.

**Freshman Micah Peavy announced Friday he will transfer. The former top-40 ESPN recruit averaged 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds.

**Junior guard Kyler Edwards announced Thursday he will transfer. Edwards averaged 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

**Senior forward Marcus Santos-Silva (8.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg) will also transfer and as of Thursday night had heard from Miami, Georgia, Iowa, South Carolina, Maryland, Boston College, Providence, Texas A&M, Houston, VCU, Florida International, Penn State and Oklahoma State. Following Beard to Texas and remaining at Texas Tech also remain options.

**Four-star small forward Jaylon Tyson may also ask out of his Letter of Intent, sources said.

**Beard is also is taking assistant coach Ulric Maligi with him, while Texas-Arlington head coach Chris Ogden will also reportedly join Beard’s staff.

**Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt gave a fiery speech today to Red Raider nation “We’ve been in the fight for five years, the fight’s not over, and you have somebody that then walks away to go to an in-conference school… an in-state school, absolutely that frustrates you.”

Hocutt has assembled a four-person search committee for the next Texas Tech head coach. The group includes Hocutt, President Lawrence Schovanec, former player Tony Battie, and the Board of Trustees member Dusty Womble.

Many think assistant coach Mark Adams will be the next man up, but others such as Darvin Ham, North Texas coach Grant McCasland, and Abilene Christian Joe Golding could be in the running for the job.
