Fresh off his first unofficial visit, class of 2023 guard Jahnathan Lamothe broke down his trip to Pitt with ZAGSBLOG Friday.

“Me and coach [Jeff] Capel have an automatic bond,” Lamothe said. “And the arena and the whole coach staff are excited to have me.”

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound combo guard from St. Frances (MD) Academy, said the coaching staff’s pitch was based on playing time and fit.

“Just come in and earn my time,” he said. “Play in an offense I’m used and just get ready for the next level.”

Lamothe is also set to take visits to Georgetown (June 15), Rutgers (June 18), VCU (June 25) and Ohio State (June 29).

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 5 combo guard and the No. 36 overall prospect in the class of 2023, Lamothe describes himself as a ‘big guard’.

“I can score from all three levels,” he told ZAGSBLOG in October. “I can pass well and assist my teammates, getting everyone involved and winning games.”
