With July upon us and Peach Jam just weeks away, Blair Academy (NJ) and PSA Cardinals guard Jayden Williams is well-positioned to see his stock soar this month.
Williams, a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard out of the Bronx, New York, is a high-IQ point guard with four Division 1 offers already on the table.
“Jayden has positioned himself to be considered a winner for his entire high school career,” PSA Cardinals director Terrance “Munch” Williams said. “As a point guard he has learned there is nothing more important than making sure his team is at the winners circle at the end of the game.”
Williams currently holds offers from Sacred Heart, Towson, Gardner-Webb and Saint Peter’s. He is also receiving interest from Princeton and Lehigh.
Still early in the process, Williams says he’s looking for a school with a great balance between academics and athletics.
“This is a young man who can guard the ball, uses the same instincts that make him a great passer to be a high steal and deflection guy off the ball and he is a great teammate who uplifts his teammates on and off the court with his high energy and passion for the game,” Blair Academy coach Joe Mantegna said. “Throw in Ivy League grades and you have the whole package.”
Williams, the younger brother of former Westtown (PA) School guard Demani Williams, has passions that extend further than basketball.
“I have dreams of becoming an engineer,” Williams said. “That’s what my dad does and him having me around that environment is what led me to having that aspiration.”
Yet, this summer, Williams only has one focus on his mind.
“I just want to win Peach Jam,” he said. “That’s coming up in July, so it’s right around the corner. I’m preparing for that.”
As far as his basketball dreams go, Williams is looking to leave a legacy of accomplishment.
A lot of people say not to be so dependent on your accomplishments and just be happy as a person, so that’s a part for me as well,” he said. “I want people to remember me as a happy person as well as being accomplished. I want to leave a legacy for others.”
