Zion Cruz, the 6-foot-4 five-star shooting guard from The Patrick School (N.J.) and the PSA Cardinals, will visit Memphis the weekend of Oct. 13 after assistant coach Cody Toppert recently watched him at an open gym and offered a scholarship.

    “I will visit,” Cruz said.

Ranked the No. 3 shooting guard in the nation, per 247Sports.com, Cruz recently re-opened his recruitment after initially settling on Auburn, Creighton and North Carolina.

“Zion is the ultimate competitor,” PSA Cardinals coach Jon DeJesus said. “He loves to compete and go to battle with his teammates. He can score at all 3 levels and really uses his athleticism to shoot over and finish around defenders. He has great elevation on his pull-up jumper off the dribble.

“His IQ of the game along with his shot-making abilities will translate to the next level. Zion also has the physical tools along with defensive instincts to really become a high-level defender at the next level. The school he chooses is not only getting a competitor and shot maker, they are getting a great young man.”
