Mike Anderson, the 2020-21 Big East Coach of the Year, says he will be staying as the head man at St. Johns, following a 17-15 season and the third season in which the Johnnies did not qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
The news comes after Anderson was linked to the opening at Tulsa. But, Anderson’s buyout is $2.5 million, money that the Golden Hurricane’s weren’t willing to spend.
Instead, Anderson will return to a St. Johns program boasting a 50-41 record and expecting a heavy amount of production expected to come back. Two-star guard Kolby King and three-star guard A.J. Storr will join the team next season as well.
St. Johns will not be playing in the 2021-2022 postseason after barely missing the NIT cut.
