High-major schools are in pursuit of class of 2024 four-star forward Dink Pate following his midseason transfer from Prolific Prep (CA) to Lancaster (TX) High School.

The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward currently holds offers from the likes of SMU, Troy, UT-Arlington, New Mexico State, Texas A&M, Houston, Lamar and Ole Miss, among others, with interest coming from Oklahoma State, Arizona and Ohio State.

“It’s been going good,” Pate said. “I’ve been getting recruited heavily by some of these colleges. For me to just get this opportunity to be recruited by colleges, it’s just a blessing.”

As far as his transfer, Pate says it was always the plan to return to Texas.

“Prolific Prep was a great experience, but I went to Lancaster because I play AAU with the head coach’s son,” he said.

Pate’s last visit was an unofficial to Texas A&M on March 6, where he has the opportunity to reconnect with Wade Taylor IV.

“It was cool,” Pate said. “He played with the AAU team I play with now. When I got that offer, of course he was excited to look out for his lil bro.”

As Pate goes through the recruiting process, he says he’s looking to grow into a better leader.

“For us to win, I now realize that I have to be one of the main people, not only to score the ball and put the ball in the hoop, but to be one of the leaders and guide the other people that don’t know what they’re doing or need some extra help or extra guidance,” he said.
