Archie Miller and the new coaching staff at Rhode Island have authored a quick hit impact on the recruiting front, gaining a high level Class of 2022 tandem in Lou Hutchinson and Jeremy Foumena.

The Rams recently earned a commitment from Long Island Lutheran’s Hutchinson, a long and athletic guard who utilizes versatility on both ends of the floor.

Hutchinson helped LuHi again attain national prominence this season, guarding every position on the floor and playmaking as an above-the-rim guard with a consistent three level scoring arsenal.

He chose the Rams over a number of suitors, including Memphis, Clemson, Texas A & M, Mississippi State, Howard, Coppin State, Mount St. Mary’s and others.

“Lou is a great teammate who will bring versatility on the defensive end and shot-making and unselfish play on offense,” said LuHi coach John Buck. “He plays hard and has a desire to consistently improve.”

Though he originally entertained thoughts of a prep year, Hutchinson is staying in the Class of 2022 and will head to Kingston, RI, following June 2022 graduation.

The Upper Marlboro, Md. native was previously at IMG Academy (FL) and transitioned instantly at LuHi, where he helped lead the program to a Max Preps’ Top-25 national ranking during the 2021-22 campaign.

Hutchinson visited Penn and Clemson, unofficially a few months ago before committing to the Rams.

Foumena is a 6-10 forward from Orangeville Prep in Canada. A native of Montreal, Foumena is an above-the-rim finisher who displayed a wide=ranging offensive skill set this past season.

He opened up a dependable outside shot and leaned on a 12-15 foot jumper as well. Foumena spent his junior season at Central Pointe Christian Academy in Florida, playing alongside a dazzling 6-7 wing in RJ Melendez (now at Illinois).

Foumena is best known for a 22-point, 17-rebound eruption against national power Arizona Compass during his time at CPCA.
