NEW YORK — Ian Jackson, the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2024, scored 22 points for Cardinal Hayes (NY.) on Sunday in a 78-48 loss to Christ the King with Kentucky coach John Calipari in attendance.

Kentucky assistant and top recruiter Orlando Antigua was also in attendance.

“It’s just about the same,” Jackson said. “I try not to feed into it or notice them [the coaches] too much but it means a lot them coming.”

“Coach Cal thinks I can go to the NBA/ be a one-and-done player,” he continued. “I could be someone who plays on the team as a freshman and possibly win a championship.”

The 6-foot-4 guard has long been linked to Kentucky, and saw the Wildcats play Saturday against UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Jackson finished by saying he will “definitely” be going back to visit Kentucky.

Aside from Kentucky, Jackson currently holds offers from North Carolina, LSU, UConn, and Oregon, among several others.

“Every school that’s part of the recruiting process is doing the same kind of thing right now,” he told ZAGSBLOG after Sunday’s game.

While Jackson has already visited Kentucky, LSU, and Oregon, he also plans on visiting UNC on January 6th.

“I have a visit to UNC in January,” he said. “Me and Coach [Hubert] Davis have a good bond. He came in yesterday to practice and the way me and him connect right now is just great.”

There is no current timetable for a commitment.
