THE BRONX — Jayden Lemond, a three-star point guard in the class of 2023, discussed his commitment to William & Mary with ZAGSBLOG at the Shooting Stars Basketball Showcase on Sunday.

Lemond, who plays for Blair Academy (NJ.) fielded offers from UConn, Auburn, Florida, St. Johns, and Seton Hall, among several others but ultimately chose William & Mary for play time.

“Obviously I had offers from a bunch of schools,” Lemond said. “But it was more about the fit and I wanted to play right away and get a good education. I visited in the fall, in early October and I liked it a lot.”

Lemond had 13 points in Blair Academy’s 59-56 win over North Field Mount Harmon (MA.) and credits his all-around ability as the highlight of his skillset.

“I feel like my skillset is really an all around game,” he said. “I get guys involved, I know when to take over and score and I can lockup on the defensive end.”

Blair Academy head coach Joe Mantegna repeated a similar message to Lemond’s on what he can bring to the college level.

“He’s [Lemond] a low turnover guy,” Mantegna said. “He can get anywhere he needs to get on the floor, guard multiple positions because he’s got size and length and obviously quickness. He’s got a pretty high understanding of the game so when you got switch-ability and versatility on defense, a high IQ, and can get from A to B in the college game, those are pretty good things.”
