Following the victory, Givens, a native of Memphis, Tenn., updated his recruitment. The No. 16 ranked point guard in the Class of 2024 per 247Sports.com, he broke down some of the schools that have recruited him the most, Louisiana State University being at the top of his list. LSU: “The one school I’ve been hearing from the most is LSU. They’ve been calling me every week, talking about they need me in a Tigers uniform and they need to get me down for a visit. They’ve just been showing me love all around.” Georgetown: “I haven’t really heard from Georgetown lately.” “Other schools that have reached out to me are Tennessee, Wake Forest, mostly SEC schools,” Givens said. “Michigan State and Clemson are starting to reach out now. It means a lot that they’re starting to reach out. They’re really busy during the season and it really shows the respect they have for my game, so I appreciate that a lot.” Givens is focused on the rest of the regular season and GEICO Nationals. “I’ll probably take some [official visits] in the spring once the season’s over,” Givens said. UNION, N.J. — In one of the most highly anticipated games of the Metro Classic, Curtis Givens and his Montverde (FL) Academy teammates took care of business.
Behind Oregon-bound senior power forward K.J. Evans’ game-high 21 points, Givens’s scoring ability inside and beyond the arc, and dominant play inside by Duke commit Sean Stewart, Montverde, ranked No. 1 by ESPN, defeated Roselle Catholic, 84-62, Saturday night in the Metro Classic at Kean University.
“I think we played well,” Givens said after scoring 10 points while shooting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. “I played within the team concepts, I played within the flow of the game, got my teammates going. When they overplayed my teammates, I got to the rim and made open shots, so overall it was a great weekend.”
