Class of 2023 Christ the King guard Devin Vanterpool took an official visit to St. Bonaventure over the weekend for the team’s win Sunday over St. Joe’s.

“The visit was great, I enjoyed it a lot,” said the 6-foot-3 guard. “Their message was that they need a bigger scoring combo guard like me.”

David Vanterpool, Devin’s father and a former assistant with the Brooklyn Nets, is in the St. Bonaventure Hall of Fame and was the team’s leading scorer his senior year in 1994-95.

Vanterpool saw St. Bonaventure redshirt junior guard Daryl Banks III pour in 36 points in the win.

He is also being recruited by FAU, Villanova and Howard and recently visited FAU.

“He’s a very tough two-way player,” said Christ the King assistant CJ Sneed. “He does it all. He’s a knock-down shooter, can finish at the rim solid, is a rebounder and elite defender averaging 1 block and 2 steals.

“He shows up for his team in big moments.”
