Former Minnesota forward Jamison Battle will team up with Chris Holtmann and Ohio State next season, per his Instagram page.
Battle, the 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward from Minneapolis (MN), spent the first two years of his career at George Washington before transferring to Minnesota. Battle now heads to the Buckeyes as a fifth-year graduate transfer.
In his four seasons in college, Battle has averaged 14.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists. He’s also shot 42% from the field and 35% from 3. Battle’s most impressive year was his 2021-22 campaign at Minnesota, where he posted 17.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Battle is the first transfer pick up for Holtmann this offseason. He won’t be the only newcomer to the Buckeyes, however, as Ohio State will also add four freshman. This includes top-50 ranked players like guard Taison Chatman, small forward Scotty Middleton and power forward Devin Royal.
Ohio State is looking to rebound from a 16-19 year in which it missed the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes also went just 5-15 in Big 10 play. Battle will likely play a big role if Ohio State can turn it around.
