Former Syracuse big man Jesse Edwards has committed to West Virginia, he announced Sunday.
He chose the Mountaineers over Kansas, Gonzaga, and Michigan, among others.
The 6-foot-11 former three-star in the class of 2019 averaged 14.5 points on 59% shooting, 10.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.7 blocks.
“I felt it was time for a fresh start,” Edwards told ESPN. “I needed a new environment to challenge myself in and I think West Virginia is just that. I’ve met some great people on my visit here and the campus looks amazing. This team could be something special.”
Edwards marks the second major transfer Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers have landed this offseason, joining former Arizona standout guard Kerr Kriisa.
West Virginia also has two former Manhattan players in Jose Perez and Omar Silverio ready to play next season.
Edwards will join the Mountaineers as a grad-student, his dad told ZAGSBLOG.
