Florida State transfer Naheem McLeod has committed to Syracuse following a visit a week ago, he announced on social media.

The 7-foot-4 big man from Philadelphia, who averaged 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds last season, and was immediately impressed by campus and the vision the staff had for him. He also considered Mississippi State.

“Campus is short and sweet so you can get around easy,” McLeod told ZAGSBLOG after his visit. “When I was at the gym they brought me into the film room and showed their vision for me and what I can do there. They showed me some of the things they’re working on now as far as trying to get my body right and lifting materials.”

“Their vision for me is just to be the best player I can be,” he continued. “[I] can come in, get an opportunity to play right away, not have to play behind anybody. They got good guards, just need a guy like me to help them out.”

McLeod mentioned that he already knows most of the Syracuse players, creating a natural familiarity towards the program.

“It’s crazy because I actually know most of the guys at Syracuse,” he said. “They’re cool off the court and on the court they’re strictly business. I know a couple guys coming into Syracuse next year so we already have that bond to where if I went there I’m not playing with anybody new. I already their game they already know my game.”

He joins Chance Westry (Auburn) and JJ Starling (Notre Dame) among transfers to join first-year coach Adrian Autry’s program.
