Georgetown graduate transfer Akok Akok has committed to West Virginia, a source confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.
Joe Tipton first reported the news.
The 6-foot-9 Akok averaged 6.5 points and 6.2 rebounds last season with the Hoyas after spending three seasons at UConn.
At West Virginia, Akok joins fellow transfers Jesse Edwards (Syracuse), Kerr Krissa (Arizona), Quinn Slazinski (Iona) and Jose Perez (Manhattan).
West Virginia also announced this week that Omar Silverio’s appeal for a waiver request to play this season has been denied by the NCAA.
“I know Omar is disappointed that he won’t be able to compete this season as a Mountaineer and that his collegiate career is over,” interim coach Josh Eilert said in a statement. “He is a wonderful person, and I know he will be successful in whatever career path he chooses. All of us enjoyed our time with him, and we wish him well.” Follow Adam Zagoria on Twitter Follow ZAGSBLOGHoops on Instagram And Like ZAGS on Facebook
