Marcus Adams Jr. is on the move again. This time, the 17-year-old freshman forward will be a BYU Cougar, Joe Tipton of On3 reported Saturday afternoon.
Adams — the 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward from Harbor City (CA) — originally committed to Kansas in March and enrolled in June. However, on July 18, Adams announced he was leaving Kansas.
“I felt like KU wasn’t the right place for me,” Adams said to the Kansas City Star. “I see everybody in the comments and some reporters saying it was about playing time … it’s not. I felt like I would have been good there if I stayed, but I had a gut and heart feeling. I felt like it wasn’t a place for me.”
The forward then committed to Gonzaga days later on July 22. After a month in the program, though, Adams will no longer be a Bulldog. Last week, the freshman left Gonzaga and entered the portal once more.
Adams will likely need a waiver to player with the Cougars in 2023-24.
Adams, a four-star recruit out of high school, was ranked the No. 49 overall prospect in the class of 2023 by 247Sports. Originally, Adams was in the 2024 class before reclassifying to 2023 this past spring.
