Oswin Erhunmwunse, the No. 4 center in the Class of 2025, announced he is reclassifying and committing to Providence for next season.
“Next year, I will be staying home and playing for Providence College,” he said on 247Sports.com.
“I believe in my skillset and I know that I can impact the game immediately. I want to stay home and be a legend at Providence.”
The 6-foot-9 left-handed big man from Putnam Science (CT) and Team New England chose the Friars over Oklahoma, Creighton and Georgia Tech. Erhunmwunse has taken a plethora of visits in the winter months, including his most recent visit to Providence on Dec. 21 and an unofficial to Friartown on Dec. 2.
“Oswin has the body and athleticism to play this game at the highest level for a very long time,” Putnam Science assistant Josh Scraba told ZAGSBLOG.
“His timing as a shot-blocker is of the highest level. He’s a true game-changer any time he’s on the floor. The rare guys are the ones that change an entire team’s mindset around the rim and he’s one of those guys. Teams avoid the paint when he’s in the game.”
