The 2024 men’s national ballot for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Principal was announced today on ESPN’s College Gameday. The ballot consists of 15 players who are candidates for the most valuable player in college basketball.
Here are the 15 candidates…

Dalton Knecht, Tennessee
Tyler Kolek, Marquette
Jaedon Ledee, San Diego State

All players on the ballot are confirmed by their university to meet or surpass the Wooden Award criteria established by Coach Wooden. The criteria is as follows: “candidates must exhibit strength of character, both on and off the court; candidates must be full-time students in an accredited NCAA college or university; candidates must be making progress toward graduation and have a cumulative 2.00 grade point average since enrolling in their school; candidates must contribute to team effort; candidates must excel in both offense and defense; and candidates should be considered on their performance over the course of the entire season.”
Voting will take place from March 18 to March 25. The finalists for the 2024 Wooden Award will be announced on April 2. The Wooden Award was established in 1976 and is the most prestigious honor in college basketball.
Currently, Purdue’s Zach Edey is the heavy favorite on multiple sportsbooks to win the award. Edey would become the second ever player to win the award in back-to-back years, joining Ralph Sampson, who did so at Virginia in 1982 and 1983.
