Chris Holtmann has wasted no time as the new head man of DePaul, landing a player out of the portal not even two weeks into his tenure with former SIUC forward Troy D’Amico committing to the Blue Demons on Saturday.
D’Amico — the 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward from Notre Dame College Prep (IL) — started every game for SIUC this past season. He averaged 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 36.4% from 3.
“I chose [DePaul] because of the coaches and they’re vision in rebuilding the program,” D’Amico told ZAGSBLOG.com. “I want to be apart of that. I think I bring shooting and versatility at the forward position.”
For his career, D’Amico is shooting 77-for-209 (36.8%) from deep. He also averaged nearly one offensive rebound per game this past season.
This is Holtmann’s first transfer commitment as the head coach of DePaul.
