Hofstra transfer Jaquan Carlos has committed to Syracuse, he told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot, 175-pound point guard from Brooklyn averaged 10.4 points, 6.3 assists and 4.4 rebounds last season en route to All-CAA Defensive Honors.
“I picked Syracuse because of the great coaching staff,” he said. “I also know the big-time players they have and the players that are coming. With someone like me, I’m going to help them elevate their games and make it easier for them. I will help us win games by setting the table and being a quarterback for them.”
Carlos is the third transfer to join head coach Adrian Autry. The second-year head man has also pulled in former Delaware wing Jyare Davis and Colorado big Eddie Lampkin. Both are expected to start this season.
The Orange will add two more highly touted recruits in the class of 2024. Donnie Freeman, who just shot up to No. 6 on ESPN’s final rankings, is a 6-foot-9 forward out of IMG Academy. He can run the floor in transition while adding a small ball lineup when Lampkin and other big Naheem McLeod are out of the game.
Additionally, Autry brings in four-star Elijah Moore out of Our Savior Lutheran (NY.). He is regarded as one of the top shooters in the class.
