Kentucky transfer D.J. Wagner is visiting USC starting Friday, a source told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot-3 freshman guard averaged 9.9 points and 3.3 assists under former Kentucky coach John Calipari, who left to take the Arkansas job.
Wagner, the son of former Camden High School and Memphis star Dajuan Wagner, was the Co-MVP of the 2023 McDonald’s Al-American Game.
New USC coach Eric Musselman has already added a slew of transfers to form his new team: four-star forward Jalen Shelley; four-star guard Isaiah Elohim; Boise State transfer forward Chibuzo Agbo Jr.;
Yale transfer forward Matt Knowling; Penn transfer guard Clark Slajchert; UMass transfer center Josh Cohen; Bowling Green transfer forward Rashaun Agee; UCSD transfer guard Bryce Pope; and Northern Colorado transfer forward Saint Thomas. Wagner had an uneven freshman season at Kentucky while playing in the shadows of fellow freshmen guards Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, but could benefit from a change of scenery and blossom into a first-round NBA Draft pick. He’s currently projected in the second round by ESPN.com. His former Camden and Kentucky teammate Aaron Bradshaw committed to Ohio State. Several former Kentucky players (Zvonimir Ivisic) and recruits (Boogie Fland, Billy Richmond and Karter Knox) have opted to follow Calipari to Arkansas.
