KANSAS CITY — Four-star center Mikey Wilkins is looking to take four official visits in June to NC State, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Louisville, he told ZAGSBLOG.com.

Wilkins — the 6-foot-8, 215-pound big man from Christ School (NC) and the Team United Nike EYBL AAU program — has taken one unofficial visit to NC State. This month he will have a chance to see some more schools.

In addition to naming potential visits, Wilkins said Mississippi State, LSU, Clemson, Georgia, Louisville and Virginia are recruiting him hardest currently. He added NC State has been recruiting him for the longest period of time. Here is Wilkins’ breakdown of each option:

Mississippi State: “They got some dogs. They are tough. Rebound, attitude. They are just some dogs. I’ve been in touch with [Chris Jans] a lot, so it’s been really cool.”

LSU: “They have some dogs too. I like their style of play. I think it fits my style of play and I like the coach.” Head coach Ryan McMahon main coach in contact.

Clemson: “I’ve been to one game to Clemson this year. They played South Carolina. I like how they play, I like that big white boy they had. He was pretty smooth. Coach [Sean] Dixon has been in contact and I’ve talked with the head coach on the phone too.”

Georgia: “I don’t see too much on Georgia, because I don’t know if they play on like TV or anything. I didn’t get to see anything. But coach [Antonio Reynolds] Dean, he’s been talking to me. He was talking to me last year.”

Louisville: “Coach Ronnie Hamilton. He’s been in contact with me. He just transferred there, switched over from LSU. He was talking to me there. He’s been in contact with me ever since.”

Virginia:Tony Bennett had text me this past year after the John Wall classic. His staff has watched me play and it’s been really good ever since then they’ve been in contact with me.”

NC State: “Coach [Kevin] Keatts has been in contact with me since last year. I went on a visit there. I felt it was a great a coaching staff. I talked to all the coaches there and we went out to eat and had a good conversation. So it was pretty good.”

Wilkins has not reported an offer from Virginia or Louisville.

The big man is coming off a weekend at Session 4 in Kansas City where he averaged 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5% from the field.

Wilkins is the No. 89 overall prospect in the 2025 class per 247Sports and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina. He describes himself as a four.

“Shoot it, get teammates involved and run to the rim,” Wilkins said of his game. “Get rebounds.”

Wilkins has trimmed his body and lost some weight, which he said has helped his conditioning. The big man is also working on being more consistent with his jumper.

Basketball runs in the family as Mikey’s older brother, Zyrion Wilkins, played for Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte.
