Top-60 class of 2025 guard Dorian Jones has committed to Ohio State, he confirmed to ZAGSBLOG. The 6-foot-4, 160-pound guard from Richmond Heights (OH) and All Ohio-Red Nike EYBL AAU program, chose the Buckeyes over his other finalists Michigan, Missouri and Rutgers.
Jones told ZAGSBLOG head coach Jake Diebler has been recruiting him since he was a freshman, long before Diebler was even named head coach at Ohio State. The two have built a great relationship and talk all the time.
“That’s my guy,” Jones said.
Previously, Jones mentioned he wanted to attend a school with a top-tier business program to help in launching his own clothing brand. Ohio State is ranked the 41st best business program in the country by Forbes and the 26th best among college basketball’s Power Five conference schools.
As for Ohio State, this is the Buckeye’s first commit in the class of 2025. Diebler has another player committed, but in the class of 2026. Jones just so happens to be friends with that player, five-star Marcus Johnson, who plays high school ball in Ohio is as well at Garfield Heights.
“We’ve been playing basketball together for a couple years,” Jones said of Johnson. “I played against him in middle school and we’ve played against each other in high school. So that’s pretty much how I got close with him. He’s a smooth player. He can score the ball at pretty much all three positions.”
Jones is ranked the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2025 class per 247Sports and the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio. This summer on the Nike EYBL circuit, he’s averaged 11.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game for All Ohio-Red.
“I’m a great defensive player,” Jones said of his game. “Defense first. Always. But I can shoot very well. I can talk. I’m a great leader on and off the court. And I also can get my teammates in the right spots with the ball. I’m a point guard, you know what I’m saying?”
Jones favorite NBA player is Kevin Durant. His favorite musical artist is Drake and his favorite movie is Twilight. Jones is a three-time state champion at Richmond Heights.
