In the past 16 days, Mike Young and Virginia Tech have gained two commitments in the 2025 class with four-star center Christian Gurdak pledging to the Hokies on Tuesday.
Gurdak, the 6-foot-9, 260-pound center from Gonzaga (DC) and the Team Takeover Nike EYBL AAU program, made the announcement via Instagram. He joins three-star forward Sincere Jones in the Hokies’ 2025 class.
“I ultimately chose Virginia Tech because I really connected with coach Young and the rest of the staff,” Gurdak told On3. “I also really liked their plan to help me reach my full potential and they have great facilities. Coach Young has been recruiting me since freshman year before I even played my first game, so we’ve built a great relationship. He also is really good at developing bigs and had stats and film to prove it.”
Gurdak has had an impressive summer to help Team Takeover to a 14-1 record heading into Peach Jam. Through 15 games on the circuit, Gurdak has averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 64.2% from the field.
Gurdak is ranked the No. 98 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports and the No. 4 player from Washington, D.C.
