Isiah Harwell, the No. 1-ranked shooting guard in the Class of 2025, is headed to Houston.

The 6-foot-6 guard from Pocatello, Idaho announced for the Cougars on Thursday, choosing them over Cal, Gonzaga, and Texas. Ranked No. 10 nationally in the 247Sports.com Composite, he is the highest-rated player to ever choose Houston.

Harwell, who runs with the Utah Prospects on the Adidas circuit and attends. Wasatch Academy (UT), visited Houston in August.

“I’m excited to announce I’ll be going to the University of Houston,” he said in his On3 announcement. “Coach [Kelvin] Sampson and his staff believed in me.

“I’d just say the culture. Everybody is a family there, they always bring everybody along, they talk to each other, they never leave anybody out. It’s a great place.”

Last season he averaged 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and was named to the 2023 USA Men’s U16 National Team which won a gold medal at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship.

“Isiah is a physical force with a much improved jump shot from 3!” Wasatch head coach Paul Peterson told ZAGSBLOG. “He could be one of the premier two-way players in college basketball as a freshman.”

In July he signed an NIL deal with Klutch Athletics and New Balance.

“Isiah is an outstanding young man who understands what it means to be Klutch,” Klutch founder Rich Paul said. “He is poised to make a meaningful difference both on and off the court, and we’re excited to welcome him to our roster.”
