Class of 2025 four-star combo guard Isaiah Sealy will take an official visit to St. Louis this weekend.
Sealy — 6-foot-7, 195-pound combo guard from Springdale (AR) and the Team Thad Nike EYBL AAU program — has taken one visit recently in the process. That was an unofficial to Ole Miss. Other schools involved include Arkansas, BYU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and South Carolina.
The jumbo guard broke down these options below:
Arkansas: “Arkansas was at my practice yesterday. Arkansas is good, especially being here as a hometown kid. With their coaching staff, coach [John] Calipari and all of that, I think it would be — I mean obviously he gets these kids to the league. So it’s great. Yesterday at my practice, coach Kenny [Payne] was there. He was really just watching my game, seeing how I can be more of a facilitator. Kind of like how coach Wes [Flanigan] was telling me. He was kind of telling me how I need to be more of a big guard and try to be less of a little point guard. Be more of a point guard, facilitator. Because at Arkansas coach Calipari is going to get scorers there. If I can get the ball to them, I’m going to score regardless. So, yeah.”
BYU: “BYU coach [Brandon] Dunson just contacted me yesterday. I don’t know what they plan to talk about. But they just contacted. BYU is a good school. I don’t really talk to Dunson much yet. But he said he’s going to call me today or tomorrow. So I’m looking forward to the recruiting with them for sure.”
Oklahoma: Coach [Clayton] Custer, I talk to him. He’s in contact a lot. He’s shown a lot of respect and love to me and my family and I think it’s real good. The visit to Oklahoma was real good. We went to the practice and I like the way they play in transition, all of that.” Quote is from Indianapolis EYBL session in May.
Oklahoma State: “Oklahoma State is great. I just saw my guy Courtland Muldrew go on a visit there. We’ve been talking. He kind of likes that coaching staff and we feel like, if that’s the place we can both play at, then that would be great. But as far as the coaching goes, I feel like the coaching is great and I’m looking forward to being recruited there too.”
Ole Miss: “So that Ole Miss visit was actually an unofficial. They’re bringing me back for an official some football day I think. Football gameday. Ole Miss was really good. Coach Wes, he showed me and my dad a great time. I feel like the school there and the way they practice and the way they coach, I feel like I could fit in great there. It’s a great environment. Oxford is a great city. I think it was a great visit for sure. Coach [Chris] Beard, he’s great. I feel like he can translate me to the next level being more of a big guard, more of like a 3 or a 2. I just really feel like Ole Miss is a great fit. I like coach Beard and that whole staff a lot. Coach Flanigan too.”
SLU: “Coach Brett [Putz], he definitely wants me to get my game up to the next level. He wants to kind of — he said he’s recruiting three or four other guys to try and build a team with that freshman class around us. And I feel like coach Brett is a great coach. He’s been recruiting me since kind of like the beginning of the summer. So I feel like they are on me hard and they really want me. So I’m interested in them too. I think it was like two weeks ago, but I had a Zoom meeting with coach Brett and my dad. He kind of just showed us the campus and how they work, how the practice works and all of that. I feel like it’s a great program for sure.” SLU was recently at Sealy’s practice as well.
South Carolina: “They contacted me and want me to head up there soon.”
Sealy said Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are also looking to get him on campus for official visits. Texas was in there last time ZAGSBLOG talked to Sealy, but he says that relationship has cooled off.
Look out for Sealy to narrow down his schools soon.
“I don’t have an exact date,” Sealy said. “But I want to make a decision before the conference season starts. So I’ll probably make the list a little bit before November, or probably during November.”
Springdale’s conference season starts in late December/early January.
As for Sealy’s game, he is a long, lengthy guard who can facilitate and make plays for others, but also go get his own basket. He is ranked the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports. This summer, he shined for Team Thad and averaged 10.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game at Peach Jam.
“It was a great last summer,” Sealy said. “I feel like coach [Norton] Hurd and coach CJ [Rodgers], they put me in a great position and taught me a lot. I learned a lot playing in a different role getting ready for college. And I think I showed coaches that I can be more of a point guard with my size. Not just a 2 or a 3. Getting scorers open, the main scorers open if I’m not scoring the ball. And just facilitating.”
Sealy has high hopes for his upcoming senior season at Springdale.
“I definitely want to go back to state,” Sealy said. “We went sophomore year and didn’t have a chance to finish that. But that’s the goal for sure: win state. And my role, I think I want to be more of a leader this year. I think I’m the only one that’s been here the past four years. So I just feel like I need to be more of a leader, be more of a point guard that I am and just lead the team.”
