Class of 2026 three-star guard DeZhon Hall has started to garner interest from several high major programs because of his play over the summer.
Hall — the 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard from Legacy Early College (SC) and the Phenom United Adidas 3SSB AAU program — was key for the 16u Phenom squad. In the last tournament of the summer at Rock Hill (SC), Hall averaged 20 points and five assists per game.
“I think I had a pretty good summer,” Hall told ZAGSBLOG. “I showed my all-around game. My athleticism, my playmaking ability. Being able to hit threes. Being able to score on all three levels. Even guarding guys on the defensive end, guys bigger than me. So I think I showed everything I need to show and I picked up some offers after that.”
Currently, Hall holds offers from Illinois, IUPUI, Miami (OH), Ohio, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. He’s also been receiving interest from schools like Clemson, DePaul, Indiana, Marquette, Michigan State, Ohio State and South Carolina.
Hall has unofficials set to Ohio State (Oct. 5) and Wisconsin (Nov. 15-16) this fall. He’s already seen schools like Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State (old staff) and Wisconsin. Clemson and South Carolina, the in-state schools, were in to see Hall at Legacy this past week as well as Wake Forest.
Right now, Hall says Marquette, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Wisconsin are recruiting him hardest. He is also setting up visits with DePaul, Marquette, Michigan State and South Carolina.
“Those are the others I’ve been talking to heavily,” Hall said. “So I’m sure I’ll be on campus soon for them as well.”
Hall broke down some of the programs involved to ZAGSBLOG:
Illinois: “I haven’t spoke with them recently. Coach [Chester] Frazier who recently moved to West Virginia was my recruiting coach there. He was the one that offered. So I haven’t been in contact with them as of late.”
Indiana: “I’ve talked to the whole staff a pretty good amount. It’s great conversations. I might be back there for an unofficial visit as well. I’ve been talking to them since my freshman year and I’ve been on a couple unofficials out there. Coach Mike Woodson, he coached in the NBA so that’s very dope. And I definitely know he knows what it takes to get to there because he coached in the NBA.”
Marquette: “Coach DeAndre Haynes, I’ve been in contact with him a pretty good amount. He’s trying to get an unofficial set up. I know it’s a lot of stuff going on around this time, so I’m just being patient. Trying to get back out there. The staff from Marquette really likes my game and I can’t wait to get on campus there.”
Ohio State: “I met coach [Jake] Diebler when he was an assistant. He wasn’t my recruiting coach. Coach Jack Owens that moved to DePaul was my recruiting coach at the time. But being around coach Diebler as well was a really good experience. And then him picking up the head coaching job was great. So I got in touch with that new staff. I’ve talked with coach [Talor] Battle every so often. He’s texting, seeing how I’m doing and stuff like that. Doesn’t always have to be basketball related, so I can’t wait to go back there for an unofficial visit as well.”
Texas A&M: Coach [Vince] Walden is the one who offered me. Texas A&M came out to see me in may at the Texas 3SSB session. So I know what they liked what they saw there and they are in contact with my AAU head coach a pretty good amount.”
Wisconsin: “When I took my unofficial last year they offered me. So that was really a dope experience. Coach [Greg] Gard and coach Sharif Chambliss, the assistant coach, I talk to him almost once a week. So me and him have a very close relationship. I talk to coach Gard as well sometimes. But me and coach Sharif are in heavy contact. I talk to him all the time. It doesn’t even have to be about basketball. It can be about anything. So I talk to him all the time. So it’s dope just to see that they’re making me a priority and recruiting me heavy. That definitely means a lot for sure.”
Hall has several buddies currently playing college basketball. He is close with Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (Illinois), Vyc Miller (LSU), Labaron Philon (Alabama), Sean Stewart (Ohio State), John Mobley (Ohio State) and CJ Gunn (DePaul). Hall played with Miller on Team SFG a few years back and is actually close with Bryce James and his family as well.
“LeBron, he’s become like an — I’ve known the James family for a long time — he’s became like an uncle to me,” Hall said. “I’ve known the family for like 10 years. Me and Bryce played together on North Coast Blue Chips a long time ago and we got really close. So LeBron is like an uncle for me now. He’s like a mentor. So I’m very close with the family. I go out to LA to visit them all the time.”
Hall is originally from Fishers (IN). He’s ranked the No. 5 player from South Carolina in the 2026 class per On3. He’s excited to show what he can do at Legacy this season playing in the EYBL scholastic league.
“Just be a great all-around leader, great all-around player,” Hall said of the upcoming season. “Do whatever needs to be done on both sides of the floor. Take in those key matchups at the point and shooting guard position and guard those guys. Being able to contain those guys under what they normally get on the defensive end. Just prove that I’m one of the best guards in the country.
Hall continued:
“I’m just very excited to play against those top guys like Darius Acuff, Kayden Allen, Kiyan Anthony. Going neck-and-neck with them, that’s going to get me better for sure. That’s why I came to play in the EYBL scholastic.”
Hall describes himself as a true three-level scorer who can also make plays for his teammates. A hidden talent of his is that he can dance.
