Nate Ament, a top-five player in the class of 2025, has signed a deal with Reebok, he announced on the Swish Cultures podcast Wednesday.
The 6-foot-9 versatile forward is the first male basketball player to sign with the shoe brand.
“I’m very grateful,” he said on the podcast. “They have a spectacular clothing line and insane people around them. They match my circle, so it was a no-brainer for me.”
Ament will have personal edition shoes, marking the first time a high school player has had “PEs.” He says he’s been working with Reebok designers for a while now on different color ways and a comfortable shoe.
“They want me not just as a basketball player, but as a person. They want me to show my authenticity, show who I am and represent me as more than a basketball player.”
In terms of recruitment, Ament is playing things on the later side with visits stretching into next February.
The 6-foot-9 Virginia native will visit Louisville (Oct. 11) and Tennessee (Oct. 19), sources confirmed to ZAGSBLOG. He will also trip to Kansas State (Feb. 11).
Ament has offers from a Who’s Who of schools, including UConn, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Texas and others.
He visited Duke at the start of October for “Countdown to Craziness,” along with fellow elite recruits Acaden Lewis and Shelton Henderson. And, he previously visited Texas (Sept. 27).
