Class of 2025 four-star forward Chris Nwuli has committed to Rutgers, he announced live on ESPN2.
Nwuli — the 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward from Sierra Canyon (CA) and the Oakland Soldiers AAU program — chose Rutgers over Louisville, San Diego State, TCU, UCLA and USC.
“Most importantly, I love coach [Steve] Pikiell’s energy,” Nwuli said of why he chose Rutgers. “He was really energetic towards me. He was really outgoing and he kept it real with me. I know I can trust what he says. Coach Smoke [Marlon Williamson], I really appreciate him for reaching out and communicating with me to try and get me over there. It was a whole process with it, being new to the east coast and stuff like that. So I really appreciate them for giving me the opportunity to play.”
Nwuli was a key piece for the Oakland Soldiers this summer. He averaged 12.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists during the Soldiers’ run to the Peach Jam championship game. He shot 50.7% from the field and 8-of-17 (47.1%) from 3-point range across eight games at Peach.
The forward joins his AAU teammate Lino Mark in Rutgers’ 2025 recruiting class, as well as four-star power forward Gevonte Ware and three-star guard Kaden Powers.
