Marial Akuentok, the No. 88-ranked player in the 2025 class, has committed to Texas Tech.

Akuentok — the 6-foot-11, 200-pound big man from Fort Erie Academy and the UPlay Canada Nike EYBL AAU program — will enroll early at Texas Tech and redshirt the rest of the 2024-25 season, he confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.

“I chose to be a Red Raider because it felt like home when I was on my visit,” Akuentok said. “Coaches are amazing. They spoke to me like I was one of them and that really made me feel welcomed and appreciated. The community and fans are amazing. Students weren’t on campus, but the community still showed out and gave me goosebumps.”

Akuentok is Grant McCasland and Texas Tech’s first commit in the 2025 class. The big man is originally from Ontario, Canada and took his official visit to Texas Tech in late December. Now, he’s a Red Raider.
