Duke head coach Jon Scheyer is uncertain about the severity of Maliq Brown’s dislocated shoulder.

The 6-foot-9 forward suffered the injury as Duke defeated Virginia 80-62 on Monday, a win overshadowed by losing a key reserve.

“It’s just gonna take some time to see how he heals and recovers,” Scheyer told The Field of 68 Tuesday afternoon. “We probably won’t know anything definitive this week. We’ll see about his status in the next week or so.”

Brown is set to continue receiving imaging tests today, such as X-rays and MRIs, to further understand the extent of the injury. Until Brown’s return, Duke will have to continue without one of its key defensive players.

“Obviously he is a big part of what we do, but we’ll see next week or so,” Scheyer said.

The Blue Devils have won their last three games as they prepare to take on Illinois this Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
