March’s Big Dance is all about historic moments and Cinderella stories and audiences may have witnessed the beginning of one in the NCAA Tournament’s opening round.

Alabama State made history on Tuesday, defeating St. Francis (Pa.), 70-68, marking its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.

The victory did not come easily, as the game came down to the final few possessions, including an improbable game-winning shot by Amarr Knox off an inbound heave from the opposite side of the court.

Knox also led the way in overall scoring for the team, notching a team-high 16 points in the contest.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, as a 16 seed, their victory in the first round has won them the right to face the Goliath that is Johni Broome and No. 1 Auburn on Thursday.

The Tigers have lost 3 of their last 4 games and the Hornets are hoping to pull off some march magic to make it a 4th in 5.
