Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats are still alive in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness, but that hasn’t stopped them from recruiting the transfer portal. Tulane transfer guard/forward Kam Williams committed to Kentucky on Friday.
Williams — the 6-foot-8, 190-pound wing — averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists for Tulane in 2024-25. He shot 48.5% from the field and 41.2% from 3-point range on 153 attempts. Williams averaged 32.3 minutes during his freshman campaign and will come to Kentucky with three years of eligibility remaining.
“As for the team right now, they have a great team,” Williams told On3. “I think they’re going to win the entire thing, but that’s just me, personally. Coach [Pope] is definitely a great coach, and he pushes his players to greatness.”
Williams will join a few class of 2025 recruits — Acaden Lewis, Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno — as newcomers on Kentucky’s 2025-26 roster. This is Kentucky’s first portal commit of this cycle, and it won’t be its last.
