Ohio State gets its first transfer portal acquisition of the offseason.

Santa Clara transfer Christoph Tilly will join the Ohio State Buckeyes, he announced Thursday.

The seven-footer averaged 12.5 points and 5 rebounds per game in his junior year. He played all three years of his collegiate career with Santa Clara.

He will play under Jake Diebler as the Buckeyes look to bounce back after an under .500 conference record in the Big Ten this season.

“There needs to be experience, there needs to be toughness, a winning first mentality,” Diebler said on Ohio State radio Thursday morning. “Those are the kind of characteristics we are looking for in the portal.”

Time will tell if Tilly can check off all of those boxes for Diebler and his program moving forward.
