Villanova has their eyes on their next transfer portal target.
Maryland transfer Rodney Rice is planning to visit Villanova starting on Friday, sources tell ZAGSBLOG.
Rice posted on Instagram that he is down to six schools: Villanova, Auburn, Tennessee, Gonzaga, USC and a return to Maryland.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 13.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in his sophomore season. Rice attended Virginia Tech in his first year but only played eight games with the program before transferring to Maryland. He is looking to play for his third team in three years. Villanova is now home to former Maryland head coach Kevin Willard, who, along with Rice, took Maryland to a Sweet 16 appearance this season. Willard was surrounded by controversy for many accusing him of giving up on the team while they were still competing in the tournament, now he is looking to take one of Maryland’s key players along with him. Maryland transfer Malachi Palmer has already chosen to follow Willard to Nova, and Rice may very well be next.
