VCU has secured its third transfer portal acquisition.
UConn guard Ahmad Nowell will play for the Rams next season, he announced Monday.
The 6-foot guard averaged 1.5 points and 1.1 assists per game during limited minutes in his freshman season. The Philadelphia native only averaged 6.5 minutes per game in his first season in college.
As a four-star recruit, he initially chose UConn over Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Tennessee in 2023.
VCU finished first in the Atlantic 10 conference this season but was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by BYU. Head coach Phil Martelli Jr. will try to spark the star power that Nowell showed in high school.
