Mickey Rourke just won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in The Wrestler, an incredible film that marked Rourke’s comeback and which I highly recommend. Rourke was seated next to Bruce Springsteen at the awards show because Bruce won “Best Original Song” for his contribution to the movie. Rourke beat out a group of really talented actors in Sean Penn, Leo DiCaprio, Frank Langella and Brad Pitt. (No Clint?) I have to say that I’m hard pressed to remember seeing five movies in a row over a span of a few weeks that were all as good as these five: **Frost/Nixon – Langella does a great turn as Nixon **The Wrester — see above **Milk — Sean Penn is fabulous as gay rights pioneer Harvey Milk **Gran Torino — Clint at his peak at 75 **Benjamin Button — Kind of Forrest Gump-ish, but quite moving **Slumdog Millionaire — Won Best Movie, I still have to see it
