  • Tyus Jones Cancels Kentucky Visit; Winslow, Blackmon, Kasongo, Cassell, Onuaku Highlight Weekend Visits

Tyus Jones has cancelled his weekend visit to Kentucky, but Justise Winslow, Ray Kasongo, James Blackmon Jr., Sam Cassell and Chinanu Onuaku are some of the elite 2014 prospects who will trip to college campuses this weekend.

The 6-foot-1 Jones out of Apple Valley (MN) cancelled the Kentucky visit in the wake of the Wildcats landing Chicago point guard Tyler Ulis.

“My next visit will be to Kansas on Oct. 18,” Jones told Jason Jordan of USA Today.

Jones was one of just three 2014 point guards to land a Kentucky offer, along with Ulis and Emmanuel Mudiay (SMU).

Jones and Chicago big man Jahlil Okafor are hoping to play together in college and both will make the Kansas trip and will also go together to Duke on Oct. 25-27.

Okafor visited Kentucky on Sept. 9 and will go alone to Arizona on Oct. 11.

“We’re talking quite often,” Jones told SNY.tv in this recent video interview about his relationship with Okafor. “We have three visits set up at the same time. We’re visiting Baylor, Kansas and Duke together. So talk quite often about it and excited to take our officials and to keep going with the process.”

By going on those visits together, Jones believes it sends a message that he and Okafor want to play together at the next level.

“I think it will be good for us,” he said. “I think it just sends a note that we’re serious about it, we’re not just all talk, and it’ll be a good time.”
