Kevin Boyle and defending ESPN NHSI champion Montverde (FL) Academy will come to New Jersey in February to play two of the Garden State’s top teams.
Boyle, the longtime St. Patrick coach who mentored Kyrie Irving and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, among others, won his first national championship last April when Montverde beat St. Benedict’s Prep in the ESPN championship game.
In the Metro Classic at Kean University Feb. 15-16, Montverde will play Isaiah Briscoe and Roselle Catholic the first night and Kentucky pledge Karl Towns Jr. and St. Joe’s-Metuchen the second night.
Montverde features Ohio State-bound guard D’Angelo Russell, Harvard-bound forward Chris Egi and LSU commits Ben Simmons and Jalyn Patterson, who hit the game-winning 3 against St. Ben’s in the ESPN final.
Other top players featured in the event include Vanderbilt-bound guard Wade Baldwin (St. Joe’s-Metuchen), Canisius-bound point guard Raven Owen Jr., Norbertas Giga (St. Benedict’s), Cheick Diallo (Our Savior New American), Patrick Strzala (Hudson Catholic), Bryce Aiken (The Patrick School), Asante Gist (Roselle Catholic), Chris Silva (Roselle Catholic), Nate Pierre-Louis and Veer Singh (St. Peter’s Prep).
