Dante Buford, a 6-foot-7 combo forward from Jacksonville (FL) Arlington Country day, picked Oklahoma over Miami and South Carolina.
“I am now committed to the University of Oklahoma,” he Tweeted.
Arlington coach Rex Morgan said Buford averaged 14 points and nine rebounds last season, but is “capable of getting 20.”
“Dante’s got great great upside,” Morgan said. “He’s athletic. He can shoot the 3, he’s gotta work on his ball-handling. He has extremely great timing on rebounds. He’s really long, can guard. I think in the Oklahoma system he’ll thrive.”
He added: “Right now he’s a basketball player. I’m not sure there’s a position he’s defined at. He’ll make an impact immediately.”
Buford joins centers Khadeem Lattin and Jamuni McNeace in Lon Kruger’s 2014 class.
Arlington previously saw guard Nate Mason commit to Minnesota and Brandone Francis to Florida.
