On Monday the Cardinals added 7-foot-2 Anas Osama Mahmoud to its 2014 recruiting haul. The news was first reported by Jody Demling.
Mahmoud is an Egyptian currently playing at Orlando (FL) West Oaks Academy.
“There’s a lot of things I can say about my decision, but the thing that makes the difference to me is the relationship between me and the staff and players,” he told MidwestBallers.com of his decision. “I am going to be playing for one of the best coaches in the world. He can lead me to be the best player I can be.”
He is Louisville’s sixth commit in 2014, joining point guard Quentin Snider, small forward Shaqquan Aaron, power forward Jaylen Johnson and centers Chinanu Onuaku , who is 6-10, and Matz Stockman, who is also 7-2.
“I need to improve all my skills and become stronger because my dream is to play at the highest level,” Mahmoud said. “Not only college, I have to work hard to reach the NBA and be the first Egyptian to make it there.”
