As this NCAA Tournament unfolds, Isaiah Briscoe is focusing on watching UConn and Arizona, two schools he is considering.
“He’s following UConn and Arizona, who are two of his top schools left in the NCAA Tournament,” Roselle Catholic coach Dave Boff told SNY.tv Saturday. “He’s excited to see how their guards are playing.”
Arizona meets Wisconsin in the West regional final later Saturday, while UConn faces Michigan State Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
“UConn, I think he sees the way that Coach [Kevin] Ollie has developed the backcourt with [Shabzz] Napier and [Ryan] Boatright and the way he allows his guards to make plays,” Boff said. “That’s appealing to someone like Isaiah.
“With Arizona, they put the ball in the point guard’s hands and [T.J.] McConnell gets to handle a lot. They use pick-and-role situations and let him play.”
The 6-foot-3 Briscoe, ranked No. 19 in the Class of 2015 by Rivals, is also considering St. John’s, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Florida, among others.
