NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Dillon Brooks has become a hot name quickly in the basketball world.
The 6-foot-6 Brooks out of CIA Bounce and Findlay Prep averaged 19.5 points in his first two games at Peach Jam, in a 64-60 loss to Each 1 Teach 1, and a 65-62 overtime win over Athletes First.
“Iowa State, Rhode Island, Illinois, Duquesne and New Mexico State have offered,” Brooks said. “I’m getting interest from Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas, Maryland, Washington, Washington State.”
He will be representing Canada in the FIBA games coming up soon in August. He says that it’s an honor to play for his country.
“It feels great,” Brooks said. “It’s great being here representing Canada. It’s on the rise, we’re starting to get talent, people from the past are paving the way for us with Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins, Tyler Ennis, Xavier Rathan Mayes. They’re paving the way for us to get to play Division-1, and to get to the league.”
