By JACK LeGWIN Levan Alston committed to Temple early Tuesday morning. The No.86 ranked prospect in the class of 2015 by ESPN chose the Owls over VCU and Penn State. “I wanted to be close to home, so people could come see me play,” Alston said at his announcement. “I’m from North Philly, so it doesn’t get any better than that.” Alston, listed at 6-foot-4, was a key piece on Team Final’s 14-2 record this summer on the EYBL circuit, averaging 13.4 points, shooting 39 percent from 3. Alston has the potential to be an immediate impact in the AAC, with his ability to score at all three levels. “I get to watch a kid that I grew with and he grew with me,” Haverford School’s Head Coach Henry Fairfax told City of Basketball’s Josh Verlin about Alston staying local. “I would have followed him anywhere, he had a tough decision. I know he had a tough decision to make but I’m so proud of him. As good of a basketball player he is, he’s an even better kid.” Alston is the second commitment in the class of 2015 for the Owls, joining Trey Lowe. Photo: Josh Verlin Follow Jack on Twitter
